Fall Cards

So after making my altered burlap canvas projects I was in the mood for fall, not that I am rushing for it to get here post haste but just enjoying the approaching cooler weather along with the lush colors it brings.

With said mood in tact I proceeded to make a few cards; of course I will confess I also had in my hot little hands a couple of 6x6 paper pads from Teresa Collins. She was actually my very first scrapbooking celebrity that I met when I took a class way back when Creating Keepsakes first started CKU and she was teaching for Ranger...I least I think it was for Ranger it was eons ago and my memory is not nearly as good as it used to be. She really is a very sweet person and I do love her style so always excited to see what's new in her releases and was very delighted with her new products.

Wow so did not mean to ramble..any hoo here are a few cards

Altered Burlap Canvas continued

So if you happened to come by on Monday you know that I altered a burlap canvas for my dd and today I am showing mine.

Very similar to my dd's. I also popped the letters up and added some flowers as well as a few other items. The pattern paper is from Papertrey Ink.

While at Michaels I also picked up a great little piece of small luggage that I am in the midst of turning into a mini graveyard scene for my dd. It's a bit of a challenge but so far it seems to be coming around. I hope to have it done by next week to show you. As of this moment I need to figure out what I need to do to my miniature people to make them look like zombies. Believe it or not that is one area I know nothing about (Zombies) so need to get some assistance from my ds.

Altered Burlap Canvas

Happy Monday everyone I hope you enjoyed your weekend and more importantly I hope you enjoy your long weekend coming up. For me it will be a 4 day weekend and I am looking forward to it. No plans as of yet but I have enough ideas in my head and written down to keep me busy.

For today I am showing you an altered canvas or burlap canvas that I bought at my recent trip to Michaels. I spied these and they came in a dual pack and I thought perfect one for me and one for me dd.

I am showing hers first. Definitely wanted to do an Autumn theme here since neither her nor I have too much to display for just Fall.

I took some letters that I cut with my all time favorite QK font, Diesel. They are such a nice big block letter and I popped them up with foam pop dots which were then glued to the burlap with my trusty glue gun.  I also wanted to add a bit of cursive writing so I used my silhouette for that.

And decided a an array of fall flowers, since those reds, oranges and yellows definitely ooze fall and added some gold tulle plus a few sprigs of fall items .

All in all it only took me about an hour and I think it turned out pretty darn good if you ask me. Now come back on Wednesday and you can see what I did for mine.

More Snack Bags

If you remember my previous post on these Reusable Snack Bags I decided to make some for the grandbabies. I must say I wanted some cute kid type fabric but when you are buying remnants you are reduced to whatever is available, which was mostly pink girl themes so I did the next best thing and found some colors that reminded me of summertime.

I used the last of my waterproof fabric which was white so there isn't anything special about the inside, thus the lack of photos. But I did readjust my overall size so they would be more suitable for a child.

More Project Life - Momo

It's interesting that with Houdini and her color grey I can pretty much choose almost any color to do her PL pages but Momo being the calico I find drawn to the brown, blacks and orange colors since that is what she primarily is along with some white.

I choose to use a ring binder album vs the PL albums since I can use a variety of page protectors.
I also find I don't take quite as many photos of Momo as I did Houdini, partly I think because she spends more time with my ds and secondly it's like having your second child there always seem to be more pictures of the first born than the rest of your kids.

This is the very first page

Inspirational Cards

After completing one card for the Feed Your Craft board, I couldn't stop since I was really really inspired by both the colors and the image we were given (Thank you Elise).

Here are two more cards that I created for the challenge. I think in hindsight on the second card I should have shrank the image so it made a smaller background but I hate to waste supplies especially printer ink and cardstock so eh I worked with it.

And here is the inside. Sorry for the bad image, it was getting dark and I am too lazy to setup my light set for pictures.

Introducing Momo

As many of you may know, I recently adopted a new little kitty. I saw her cute little calico face as I was walking quickly through the pet store and just couldn't resist her. And it didn't hurt that I was already thinking my other little kitty needed a buddy.

They have been at odds with each other but I think my older kitty finally figured out that hey this little girl is a great playmate and a pal. Although she still likes her own space and you can see her frustration when the newest addition doesn't engage in the chase me game. I suspect with enough time and Momo will figure it out.

Sunny Day

Made this card for the challenge on Feed Your Craft boards. Loved the color scheme and the image given for inspiration. We are at the end of summer and I couldn't let the summer finish without making a popsicle card since it's been on my mind for awhile.

Letterpress Cards

I don't know if you've ever seen letter pressing but it has very intense coloring that is reverse embossed. I really love the look of it; so much so I researched buying the equipment but talked myself out of it. I just couldn't rationalize that I would take it into a business and we won't even go into the cost factor.

Ever since then I have been intrigued with finding ways to replicate the look. I almost purchased the Lifestyle Letterpress kit but after reading reviews determined that it need a revision 2 which never happened. I often wondered if embossing folders could be used but never tried it until now.

So I took just two types of ink to play with, Tim Holtz Distressed Ink and Papertrey Ink's craft ink. I then chose two folders. I only dabbed on the ink much as you would a stamp. I make typical 4.25 x 5.5 cards since you can get two from an 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock. However, I noticed that by daubing on the ink the smaller folders got a bit messy around the edges but the larger folder did not. As you can see below.

I reinked the embossing folder being a little more careful not to get the edges mess, I was a little more successful but still was not an even result.
Also using the same folder I inked the opposite side to see if the effect changed. Ironically they were very subtle differences given the pattern of the folder

And here are the end results after trimming down the geometric patters to clean up the edges.
I am also sneaking in a challenge for Simon Says Stamps using glitter cardstock on the Hello card for their "shiny" challenge and a couple of jewels on the Yay card as well as glass stars on the birthday card below.

And using the larger folder as the base of the card, you really could stretch your supplies and make your own pattern or rather embossed pattern paper using inks and embossing folders.

Creative Side - Blog Hop

Today I am sharing a bit more about me because I am participating in a blog hop that explores a bit more of my creative side which my fellow Blogger Elise from Feed Your Craft invited me to.

In this hop you will learn a little more about me from the questions I was provided.

What am I working on right now -
I am the sort of person who has many things going on right now but the most recent sitting on my desk at this very moment are some cards in progress that I am testing out using Ink and Embossing Folders to see if I can get a Letterpress effect because I really like the look of Letterpressing.

Next question was how long does it take for me to create a project -
I think this depends on what the project is. I can whip out a card or a layout under an hour but sometimes if I can figure out what it's missing or needing or if it's elaborate it can take me 1-2 days.
What are my favorite things I love to create with at the moment -
Tough question. I have so many things I love to use. I guess I am using a lot of dies right now so that seems to be my go to tool and also using more inks and stamps with my cards so I am also enjoying those but my new found love is probably mists and watercolors.

You should check out this website. See a picture on Pintrest of the web or have one of your own, then paste the URL and it generates a color scheme for you.

How does my creating process work -
Again depending on my project at hand could be several different methods but for layouts I usually print my photo, sometimes I use a sketch, sometimes not to jump start me then I grab pattern paper and some coordinating cardstock and while I am doing this and looking at my photo(s) I tend to think about what the photo is saying to me..what comes to mind and what do I want the finished page to look like or what am I in the mood to do like misting or ink splatter and from there I just go through my stash of embellies to finish off a page.

Last question, what inspires me -
Well I am a visual person and nothing gets me more inspired than eye candy. Can be someone else's art work, could be colors or textures and sometimes I get inspired with new product or a new tool and by the photos I take.

Now I would like to share a couple of fellow bloggers. The first two are part of my Scrapyland DT, but each one is different and have different styles and techniques.

Sabina (
I love her clean style layouts.

Carolyn (
She always has great sketches on her blog.

Hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about my creative side.
